the Birthplace of the American Revolution,
cradle of the Environmental Movement,
the Home of the American Literary Renaissance
The goal of this
project is to restore the existing Col. James Barrett house so that it can
be safely and appropriately visited by the general public. Its key
period of significance is the American Revolution along with changes
brought about in the early 19th century.
The (updated) Historic
Structures Report of April 2009 gives details of the house and family over
a 300 year period. Note: these are large pdf files (see side
box). The appendices contain copies of original documents and books.
